Re-thinking Event SWAG

With a return to face to face training events, this year we have focused on re-thinking SWAG. We have all been to an event or conference and come back with a bag full of SWAG, leaflets, pens and stress balls that we don't always need, creating additional waste that often ends up in landfill. At Canopy we decided to come up with some clear guidelines for SWAG and gifts moving forward:

1. Buy Sustainably - Where a choice exists, we use more sustainable materials - for example our Workspace Skills Lanyards are made of RPET. Recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET)  is the most widely recycled plastic in the world. This helps reduce plastic waste by reusing material to create new products.

2. Ensure items have a Long Term Purpose - You will no longer see single use items, so, for example we prefer pin badges over stickers.

3. Give People a choice - By giving participants a choice in the items they receive, they are more likely to select items that are useful to them. On the Certified Innovator Program, which we deliver on behalf of Google for Education, we now give participants credit to spend at our online store.

Tree Planting

Tree Planting

At Canopy we want to create a Canopy of Trees, so we are working with TreeApp to offset our carbon footprint by funding climate projects and planting trees where they’re most needed.
